Concierge Eating Disorder Recovery: Intensive Programs
Flourish Psychology Offers ED Intensives For Patients That Need Additional Options Outside of Higher Level Care Programs
Patients that struggle with eating disorders typically benefit from either higher levels of care, or an alternative that offers similar progress. Some patients choose to go straight to higher levels of care, such as acute medical stabilization programs and residential treatment programs (rehab centers), or other inpatient/outpatient eating disorder programs. These are designed around immediate medical, nutritional, and psychological support.
Others want a similar approach, but want the treatment to take place at home or without interrupting tasks like school and work. Flourish Psychology has what’s known as “eating disorder intensives” – comprehensive, boutique, personalized programs catered to each patient. Next Steps After Level Care
Higher level care can be immensely beneficial for those that require immediate, often life saving assistance.
Rehabilitation centers and inpatient clinics do amazing work helping patients take the first steps on their journey to recovery when immediate intervention is needed.
But what happens next?
Studies show that the relapse rate for those recovering from eating disorders may be as high as 50%. That the rate of relapse is especially high during the first year. Part of that high rate of relapse is due to the inadequate support after completing these higher level programs. While many will still see a therapist, or a nutrition counselor, patients may benefit from a more comprehensive program that addresses all of their mental health needs.
Our Intensive Eating Disorder Programs – Custom Programs for Patient Care
Flourish Psychology is a boutique private practice in New York City, serving patients locally and remotely throughout the United States. We have a team of therapists that have worked in higher level care facilities.
We know the difficulties that patients can face when they leave some of these programs and try to become acclimated back to their day to day lives.
We also know that higher level of care programs are not the right fit for all patients. That is why we offer personalized, comprehensive programs that take a holistic view of client wellness in order to help treatment fit into your current life. We provide a one on one, concierge, ongoing treatment program to help you manage your eating disorder goals and see progress along your journey to recovery. Our programs help those with eating disorders better address and manage their recovery.
Every program is specifically designed around the patient and their needs. We start with a thorough assessment, and then determine a custom treatment plan. The treatment plan may include:
Family Based Therapy
Mindfulness Based Supportive Eating Sessions
Exposure Therapy Sessions
Workbooks and At-Home Assignments
You will also have a single point of contact whose role it will be to collaborate with you and your other providers. We will work directly with your medical care team (PCP), dietician, a psychiatrist if you have one, and we can make referrals and recommendations as needed along the way.
For those who have completed a higher level program, our intensives offer a natural next step. Unlike traditional after-program care – which may involve once a week therapy or occasional nutrition counseling – our eating disorder intensives continue the progress that occurred through higher levels of care.
We will continue to meet frequently with you, providing ongoing access to a trained eating disorder therapist, regular nutritional counseling, trauma counseling (if required), and coordination with other experts until you are in the best position possible for your recovery.
For clients who are looking for the benefits of these programs without as much disruption, our programs offer a realistic and effective alternative. Our concierge psychotherapy services allow patients to receive in-depth care at their service, from therapists experienced in what higher-level care entails.
Our services cater to the patient’s wellness. We adjust the treatment program as needed along the way to ensure you are getting the right care at all times. We used only evidence-based treatment modalities that are extensively researched to show improvement in patient outcomes.

FAQ About Eating Disorder Incentives
Who is the Eating Disorder Intensives Program For?
Our eating disorder intensives are for those that are still struggling with their relationship with food. It’s for people that allow their lives to be controlled by decisions about food. It’s for those that are heavily distracted by their weight or body. It’s for those working out too often, those that cannot help their feelings around food, those that frequently and thoroughly check menus for caloric content, and so much more. Because there are many types of disordered eating (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, orthorexia, and beyond), there are also many different symptoms. But our role in these intensives is to create customized plans that cater to you.
Is the Intensive Only For Those Recently Out of Higher Level Care?
No. Our intensives are for any patient that needs more comprehensive support. It’s also for those that did not feel as though the higher levels of care were the right choice for them, or those that want a more intensive program but without as many life disruptions.
How Many Hours Per Week Are Included?
Each program is designed around the patient, which means the total time spent with each patient varies as well. We will assess for the level of need, but typically it is between 2 hours per week to 10 hours per week with extra availability as required. Treatment programs may be a hybrid mix of in-person and remote, and can be fully remote when necessary due to distance.
Do You Integrate Outside Providers?
We might. We have partnerships with some nutritionists that specialize in eating disorders, and we have connections to other medical care needs for patients that need it. But each plan is customized, and many of the services are completed in-house. We will need to determine what you need before we can determine if any third parties are involved.
What Ages Do You Work With?
Our eating disorder programs are designed for teens over 16, and adults of any age.
How Much Does the Intensive Cost?
Our intensives are not a specific service, but rather a range of custom services catering to your specific needs. We will need to talk to you and determine more about your situation to figure out what services are needed, and ultimately what the cost will be.
Are Eating Disorder Intensives Covered By Insurance?
We are an out of network provider, so our services may or may not be covered based on your insurance. Typically, these services are paid out of pocket and reimbursed at a specific percentage based on your insurance carrier. We will provide you with a super bill to help with this reimbursement.
