Licensed Psychotherapist
Carolyn Light (she/her) is a caring, professional therapist that specializes in trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, and loss.
Carolyn believes in working collaboratively with her clients to create a therapeutic experience that speaks to each individual’s needs.
She believes that each individual is unique, and she strives to really get to know her clients to customize her approach based on each individual’s needs and goals.
Carolyn is trained in psychodynamic, person-centered, and trauma informed therapeutic approaches. She likes to use a combination of traditional talk therapy and creative arts to help clients access, express, and work through their emotions and experiences. Carolyn is mindful of the ways in which our past experiences show up in our present relationships, reactions, and even in our bodies, and always aims to maintain a holistic lens in her work.
Carolyn earned her B.A. at Purchase College and her master’s degree at New York University. She is trained in several forms of therapy including psychodynamic talk therapy, Drama Therapy, Trauma Systems Therapy, and EMDR. She is a member of the North American Drama Therapy Association, and has received training from the EMDR International Association.
While Carolyn knows that therapy can be challenging and even painful at times, she believes that it’s also important to create space for joy in therapy. Carolyn’s clients know her for her warmth, humor, creativity, and insight. She is dedicated to fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment to help you explore your own thoughts and feelings, let go of the beliefs and patterns that hold you back, and learn to recognize yourself as the hero of your own story.
